24 March 2009, 06:00. I started my solo roundabout journey to Clanwilliam to put some names to faces and see what the wild dogs get up to in the Cape.
I will be visiting towns that have featured in a great magazine and exploring in general. I will be spending eight days discovering as much as possible, covering 4800km +/-.(tar and gravel)
I have Heidenau tyres which I had heat cycled for about 2000km and was ready to put them through some serious work.
Day 1.
Tar to Uniondale ( I’ve done the dirt in this area already), then gravel to Olifants river and following it up towards De Rust, through Meiringspoort up to Karoo National Park where I got busted on a 4x4 trail and asked to return to camp which prompted me to go through the Riverine Rabbit Conservancy  ( yes my back was covered) up to Loxton and spend the night in Carnarvon.

1 = Fire damage in Joubertina swamp area.
2 = close up on the strange old reads.
3 = 1st piece of dirt and it was goooood.
4 = beginning of the Swartberg
5 = strange build up on the base of these mountains.
