Wellington Enduro (more pics added)
« on: April 27, 2009, 10:59:02 pm »
Seeing that I didn't participate it's not a Ride Report. Just some pics taken at a regional event.

25 April 2009, weather was looking dodgy. Not much rain had fallen before the start but during the first lap it started to drizzle. And from there it just got worse.

I'll kick off with some quad pics. These are in some cases social riders. There were some interesting obstacles in the farmyard. Bikes & quads could choose between a maize and a jump. All the quads chose the maize, and just as well.

Pics of them going over a smallish log:

Next customer:

The jump was a ramp used to load livestock. The run-up became quite slippery later on.
Here a Kawa uses all the suspension it's got:

Yamaha too:

And then this youngster on a 2-stroke Yamaha. He probably thought he needed a bit more speed and opened the throttle a bit too much at the wrong time. (Gauteng riders help me here. Is this what is called "Doing a Dakota?" ) :peepwall:

Lookong for his contact lenses?

All's well that ends well, he jumped on and had only one or 2 okes pass him.

May post more later.

great Pic's

Was supposed to be a marshall on the 950. That mud was to snotty for such heroics.

Ended up watching and enjoying some serious slip-n-slide.

There are no short cuts to anywhere worth going!
Performance is paramount, niceties only exist if it doesn't affect performance.

Don't rush it, it's helmet time you need, not a destination. Take it easy.

Excuse my indulgence, but I'm posting some more pics  :). Just like we all need saddle time, I need shutter time  ;D (Get very cranky otherwise, and out of practise).

I wanted to take pics from other vantage points but the rain made that difficult, and then my memory cards were all full. Thanks for the other pics 1 KAT, that was going to be my next place to visit.

I used a tripod and the lowest shutter speed I could get away with, that's why there is a blur here and there. Not much light but the sky was one big softbox.

How's that for a grandstand?  :D :D

Some acrobatics:

Is this a 690? The headlamp was so strong it stuffed the camera's lightmeter around:

Happy participant, he came 7th overall:

This lady fell virtually at my feet. As soon as she hit the ground she asked: "So did you get the photo?" I told her to fall a bit further away next time.

And finally, some more quad action. This junior had a real Oh Shit moment. The spectators add to the ambiance, just like watching koshuisrugby

Great Pics Nic.
