I don't know about you, but I for one couldn't be bothered with the new Tenere.
I mean, what does it have that my Dakar didn't have? Let's just compare them for a second here: on paper the Dakar has 2 more HP, 10mm more travel on the rear shock, and is 4kg lighter. Ok sure, it takes 4 more litres of fuel, and has a 43mm front shock over the Dakar's 41mm. And it has a plastic bashplate.
OK I'll admit it, those are tiny differences - I'm splitting hairs. And let's face it, that's on paper - I haven't ridden it, and I have heard that the XT660 engine is very lively (and I know from experience that the Dakar's throttle tends to be lethargic).
But really people? Are we really creaming ourselves over the thought of a bike we've waited 2 years for that's essentially Yamaha's answer to the Dakar, only weirder looking? Is it really worth whatever we're going to pay for it? What's the latest estimate - R90k? more?
Or is it just me?
