Criminals target Top Boxes

Twice in this week now youngsters tried to open my topbox in peek hour traffic. Luckily is hulle te fo...n stupid om vinnig uit te figure how the clip work on a BMW topboks. Obviously it is just a matter of time till they figure it out. This happened in full site of the car behind me on both occasions. It was bit dark in the car so I only saw the white teeth of the car occupants who loved this entertainment. This happened on the Co of Andries & Skinner street Pretoria and Garsfonteinweg near Menlyn. When you spot them they disappear like ghosts. Be wary guys and girls. Will lock it when I am on the bike in future.

times like this that I'd put a MOERSE spider or snake in there and let them open it...

On a more serious note : would it be wrong(illegal) to visit (ambush) them : all dressed in Hells Angel outfits?

Carry a piece of twisted barbwire in the back of your seat, when they come poking around your topbox simply let rip......

Well top boxes are just plain ugly anyway.  It spoils the whole look of your bike!

Now I know why they stole my Dakar ! They must have been after the topbox, which was locked! he..he

thanks for the post+warning.
With my new(secondhand) bike opted for "sof luggage" and use a "rugsak" for commuting

How far does one have to go....a mate of mine in Transkei had his whole trailer stolen off the back of his Toyota 4x4 at a robot ...& did not notice for a good few kms! Shame it had his new twin daughters stuff in it...he reckons about 20k of baby stuff!!!
