OK, let's stir a bit, life's not only DS bikes!
My Cafe racer project was started some 10 years ago. Initiated by the discovery that XL 250S and XL500S frames are near identical and the existence of a Honda CB250RS (powered by a hotter version of the XL250 engine) which served as my commuter.
People who have been at my workshop might remember the bike
Modifications done so far:
Fitted XL500R engine with CB250RS alternator (lighter) and ignition (slightly more preignition).
Mated XL500R engine with CB250RS frame. Minor problems.
Fitted FT500 CV carb. Minor problems.
Fitted FT500 pipes. Major problems.
Fitted Magura Clubman bars. The narrowest set of bars ever made! Scheduled for replacement with Pichler fully adjustable clubman. Just as narrow but even cooler (and nowadays as rare as hen's teeth).
Replaced front disc with left 1984 CB400N disc.
Replaced front caliper with Honda VF750S left front twin piston caliper.
Rearsets DIY.
Will add the list of to do's and pictures later. Have to go and get work done ;D
