Sir Alex
Pack Dog
Last year Sir Alex and the missus mixed their annual leave by (https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=17544.msg278751#msg278751) camping and B&B as opposed to this year, when we only B&B’d and even included a
5 * * * * * Hotel nogal - in Underberg.
The preparation is sometimes nearly as enjoyable as the trip / holiday itself. Planning, packing, repacking and packing again to make all fit into the GS ADVENTURE 1150’s top box, side panniers and tank bag. This year I did not have to include two chairs, mattresses and a tent!!
The panniers, kit and the bike ………………
Then the departure day arrived on 17 April and on our way to Smithfield we had breakfast at Lindley
and a tea break in Ficksburg
Stayed at the Artists Colony B&B for two days in Smithfield
Breakfast, and
Lounge at a very tidy and pleasant B&B.
Then onto Rhodes where we parked off at the Rhodes Hotel for two nights and we did the compulsory trip to Tiffendell and the pictures confirms the awesome sights ………
We left Rhodes on a very cold and cloudy rainy day for Underberg via Barkley East, Elliot, Ugie, Maclear and Mt. Fletcher in the E Cape onto Matatielle and Kokstad in Natal to Underberg where we stayed at Moorcroft Manor.
We also paid a visit to the Sani Pass Hotel.
Also paid Khotso Horse Trails outside Underberg, on the Drakensberg Gardens route, a visit.
From here we headed onto Durbs via Calderwood between Bulwer and Boston in Natal Midlands.
On our way back to JHB we stopped over at Bokpoort 8 k’s other side of Clarens where my son a.k.a BB King on his XT660 joined us for the one evening we stayed over.
And the WD GS
Was a straight forward holiday trip of which the enjoyment is amplified 10-fold because it was done by bike and moreover, a GS ADVENTURE, the BIG one, 1150!
And then Sir Alex’s team did it again, AND THAT IS A FACT - X 18 !!
