KTM640 one legged centrestand
« on: May 19, 2009, 06:45:47 pm »
As you guys know, with the 640 original parts its either a sidestand, or a centrestand, not both. After fitting the centrestand for a trip to the Orange river (for fixing flats etc), it became obvious that its not working for me. The mission to ballance the fully loaded bike while getting on/off became an act of faith. SO, I decided to fit both- sorta.

I fitted the original sidestand with no modifications. Then I cut the obsolete centrestand to only have one leg, leaving about 40mm of the horizontal part just to retain the standstop. Then I drilled out the original fixing bolt and fitted a beefier 10mm bolt to the single fixing point.

Now I have a normal sidestand, PLUS a one legged centrestand for flats and other emergencies. Just kick out the sidestand and swing the one leg of the centrestand down. Works for me. (sorry no photos, still have to figure it how photos work on the site)
