One of the main concerns on this project was the technical skill and knowledge vacum on the maintenace of this project, looks llike the wheels are starting to come off.....

Gautrain has confirmed that services between Pretoria and Hatfield have been suspended after what the company is calling a “minor derailment”.

I have been using the Gautrein daily for close on 3 years now.

IMHO a very successful engineering project, and although heavily funded by subsidies from the GP provincial government, running way ahead of the predicted numbers on passengers.

In fact from Centurion to Sandton it is standing room only in the mornings and afternoons. I see they are starting the expansion of the parking facilities in Centurion.

The only criticism I have is that they are battling to move people through the turnstiles and out the parking, and the way the infrastructure has been designed, there is very little space to improve this

Been running for some time now and has been very successful. Heck trains derail in Germany and Italy too from time to time  :o
