Sunday - Riebeek Kasteel
« on: May 25, 2009, 10:21:35 am »
Late Saturday evening , I decided to go for a ride on Sunday Morning.
Met up with Bonova & Tareg at The Richwood Garage at 08h30.
They we on their way to Atlantis.
Originally I was going to do the Alt. Route to Pieketberg , but decided to call Stev0 in Riebeek Kasteel.

Just over the first hills and I was into fog

I met him in town,we refueled and hit a nice little muddy road down the railway line, then onto a dirt road I wanted to show him.
WR450 in its Eliment

Back to Riebeek via some knarly little tracks in the bush on the slopes of the Riebeek Mountain.
Had some lunch in town( At the Church ! )

Then went rock Hopping with Stev0 , not somthing you should be doing with a 660 , more like a small trail bike.

Finally , My bike found a friend that wasnt orange!

Then after chasing a huge baboon up a very rocky road, and down somones private vineyard.
We got back on to a public gravel road.
We found a road that I was looking for on a previous ride. Its a short cut from Porcelainweg to Riebeek Kasteel.NO MORE 10km of TAR

Stev0 will go and speek to the farmer in the week to get his official concent.

Thanks for a challenging ride Stev0

looks like a awesome area to ride  :thumleft:
There are no short cuts to anywhere worth going!
Performance is paramount, niceties only exist if it doesn't affect performance.

Don't rush it, it's helmet time you need, not a destination. Take it easy.

Ja, so let me make a quick hijack onto ur post...
Tuareg and i - we didn't get too far. Trying to cross the railway line cause the place was flooded - we managed to bump his sidestand switch - which then only slightly shorted or something, so the bike still ran in gear, but only for a short while each time.... then, from all the starting - battery died.
Long story short, Managed to bump into some dudes in Defenders messing around nearby - got them to come over, jump start the bike, ran it for awhile, then, tried to ride out - realized it's still a problem, Cut the sidestand switch wires - wired them ALL (all 3 yes, that's what's needed on a 950) together, and bobs your uncle.
Then Tuareg headed home.
I went on, met some other dudes at the quarry, road with them awhile, saw a huge fall by the dude on the KTM 950 SE - very funny (only after he was assertained to be OK and bike was fine).
Told the guy on the bmw 450 that his rear wheel was trying to overtake his front cause it was Massively out of allignment. He didn't sound too keen to fix it immediately. After a short stint on the railway line towards atlantis, we went off into some side tracks. On that road, his masterlink (the rivet type) - she comes out (funny what misallignment can do)
He has a spare, but no tool to put in on. Managed to bash it on with my shifting spanner and a rock.... awesome.
After that, i cut them loose and road through the dunes to atlantis by myself.
Met a cool guy (Dusan) and told him to join the forum cause he's looking for people to ride with.
Then i went through to Mamesbury and crazy-horse and i rode around for the rest of the day  - very cool back roads to wellington. no pics sorry :(
Hijack off :)
BMW F650 DAKAR ; BMW 650 X-Challenge ; YAMAHA 660 TENERE ; BMW 800 GS KTM 200EXC. Now - KTM 950 Adventure S, KTM 250 XC-W and BMW 450 Rally

if u are interested in something no matter what it is, go at it full speed ahead, luke warm is no good, hot is no good either, white hot and passionate is the only thing to be...
