cool words

there is only ONE bike. The one that YOU are riding. Love riding a vespa around town or even a help my trap rocks. would even like to ride a Harley one day or BM. well when i am reallllly old though  :imaposer:
As long as it has an engine and 2 wheels or 3 then you can get THE feeling. O and when it breaks. cool fix it :thumleft:

Z, awesome stuff...
I've recently put this as my e-mail signature:

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field.  I'll meet you there.

It's from rumi, and the next line reads:

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn't make any sense.

The second bit, I guess, alludes to the same thing, that place where words don't capture what we're trying to say but those who know what you mean, they know what you mean...

I'm new to biking so I get very lost in all the technical talk and very confused and intimidated about doing/buying the right stuff and have no mechanical skills, but I 'get' that feeling and can't wait to get out onto the bike, or into the bush, or wherever it is we go, to find it again  :thumleft:
I crash test all of my safety gear. Do you?

Thanks TR for bringing this "topic" back from the archives. Zonkelnut - as a new member, it's the first time i've red it, and what a great  :deal:. You are 200% correct with this. It reminds me of my first "adventure" ride, with a 1978 XL185S, intake carb-rubber "sealed" with maskin-tape, kickstarter attached to frame with piece of wire, 2,5 candle-light headlight, piece of galvanized irrigation pipe for an exhaust, etc, etc, but the ride was o so GREAT !!! The fresh Karoo air, the amazing sunset, the unknown roads, the begging for fuel - everything was great. I miss it !!  :drif:

Phew..........Thanks Zonklenut.

Sure got me thinking. I think if you have the means you can have what you want ,but if not ,what you can get is just as good. It is the attitude that is important.

When the chaps go off at an tangent, I switch off.

Dont stress the small stuff.

Thanks again. I feel like heading somewhere far right now. :(

Good friends and fresh mud......

It is not about what you ride...... but WHO you ride with !

I had to read it again today

My recent transformation going from a HP2 to a ordinary R100T 1978 voetsek val uitmekaar uit bike has ignite my spirit for riding again after 20 odd years. The bike makes me smile because it is rough and does weird stuff when you least expect it and of course it has no brakes regardless of the two shiny twin discs gleaming at the front  :eek7: Girls at traffic lights look at me not because I am moerse cool but more of "dude why is there smoke coming from your baaik?"  :ricky:

You can have fun on anything as long as you get on it to create a journey of interest.

Zonkel it's all true, and anybody who has had the opportunity to "get" that feeling of what biking is all about will know what you're talking about. We just don't always express it and not as well as you have here.
Yes it's like the slog of serving love, sometimes we forget, are tired of all the kak or just lazy to work at it. And often due to silly distractions around us, but we don't forget.
Get on that bike and all is forgiven.
They're all elements with which no relationship can flourish be it manu a manu or with your boney. Thanks for all the reminders.
But I'm sure everybody on this forum knows, and it shows. Just look at the real and genuine love, lust and passion in all the comments of all the okes who hang here.
Although I'm a relative newb around here and might not have looked you in the eyes yet, high fives to you all.
I feel it.
It is here.

Maverick, I understand. Me and the lady purchased an old 1970 Honda 350 CL and are busy restoring it. Let me see if I have a pic, ah yes got it.
Now the chicks can go "maar daai oom het 'n ou fiets". Still in peaces and busy buffing, cleaning and fixing and spending money. But I love it and can just not wait to complete this beauty. His name will be Mojo. Cool name. Going to make it pearl blue (or something like that)

Trailrider, I completely forgot about this post. Thanks for awakening it again. I had to read it as I kind of forgot what I said. So by the way, I think your blog is the best so I voted for it. Should say I read it very often.

well written Z, that certainly gives one a pause for thought and to stop and look at my bike and see if i am getting caught up in the "farkle fashion parade" instead of being out there and riding my scoot. And i am pleased to find that i am not guilty of such, i have my ride, have petrol and will ride anywhere. and you are right, breaking down or running out of fuel is just an opportunity to meet new people.....

Mr Z
That certainly put it in a nut shell, well done.

I grew up in a time when what you were riding was not important, but to keep riding was.

Jip, sorry Zonk, my avator wasn't meant to watch at 2 am. It might lead to serious uncomfort and even more sleeplessness.....  :ricky:
