Must have been VERY scary ... !!

Not really. It was a rental, and the Yaris is just a little bigger than a quad anyway- I just wanted to see what the condition of the pass was like, and it was surprisingly good. The trip from George to PE took me close to 6 hours due to this little detour, but it was a very nice drive.

The scary part was the massive 18-wheeler truck that came from the other side of the pass. Vehicles with a GVM of more than 5t is not allowed on the pass, so I don't know how this guy managed that truck up there.

Some of those corners are very tight, and very blind. Rules of the Prins Alfred's Pass say that cars coming down yield to cars going up, and you must blow the hooter when you go around a corner. The actual implementation of the rules is that the bigger your car, the less you have to yield. This was mostly applicable to what appeared to be visitors to the pass (non Western Cape registration numbers). The Yaris an I had to yield quite a lot - even when we had right of way...
