Had the perfect excuse on Wednesday morning to do a quick trip to the river (Parys area). Left Eldoraigne at 05:30 and headed south on the N1, got there around 07:00
Most of the trip tar (not interesting) except for the last bit. Did what I wanted too, made some breakfast and headed back to work and an hour later was "productive" again. Must admit it was a good midweek break. Should do it again. Here's a couple of pics.

We need to explore the states more often... it is on our doorstep and it is a vast area in need of exploration...

ja, my lunch consisted og those mints they put in the boardroom, along with a glass of water...

Yep, just about every weekend. I've got a loooong term "project" going - building. Started in 2000, fired 2 "builders" (read rip-off artists), then decided to "do-it-myself". If all goes well, should finish next year, if not, the year thereafter. Building just about everything with stone. Its extremely destressing (for me) and satisfying to see the place take shape slowly but surely.

So, when is the house warming party?

There are some very lekker roads around that area that need exploring, we did a few a while back whilst dodging the Vaal Plaza. There are some lekker roads on the west side of the Vaal Dam as well.

Yep, there's quite a few dirt roads in the Parys area. Got about 20 k's of dirt road fm where we are into Parys (Vaal Eden turnoff on Parys road). The road servicing the small holdings is dirt track, some very rocky areas crossing the koppie. The other side of the river, between Vaaloewer and Barage, another stretch of about 20 k's. Between the tollgate and Parys, 30k plus gravel road (links into the road from where we are). Other side of Parys (Gauteng side) there also is a couple gravel roads.

Maybe plan a trip in December or Jan, ride through Friday/Saturday evening, sleep over and do some riding the next day.
