Sooooo, I left CT for Windhoek in March this year. From one of the windiest cities in the southern hemisphere... to pretty much no wind all year round (besides the unlikely name) - it's been a new experience having braai smoke move strength upwards  .
Regrettably due to a confusing and ever moving paper trail through numerous government agencies  :deal: , our stuff only arrived last weekend. So ends my longest bikeless illness in more than ten years  :eek7: ...one hundred and twenty three days.
Bike preped and kit unpacked. The Mrs & I still have half the house to unpack but she is only too happy to get my sad face out onto some Windhoek trails. Twenty minutes on Google Earth results in some interesting leads... And am off.

...Windhoek is not a huge town. 2 minutes and 800 metres later and I have hooked up with my first dirt road going east into the bushveld.

(Did encounter a funny scene along that 800 metres... Although registered and roadworthy, I haven't fitted the numberplate bracket XT660R had made for me...  And the bike looks more offraod than on. Well, around the corner from our house in the main road east to the airport. Today, as a rounded the road, there stands 20 police motorcycles and a further 10 cars next to the road. They all look at me... And there was nothing else for me to do but wave and casually ride past.  :mwink:  :ricky: Foundout later, they were waiting to escort the president from Cuba arriving from airport  ;D  ;D  ;D )

Anyways... here's some pics from the ride. Had everything... Crossed a number of dry rivers and over a few hills till the sun started fading.  Lots more to further explore.
