I do understand where you are coming from,  I however get very exited about the possibilities of zero emissions , not something I feel we have a choice in pursuing

http://earth2tech.com/2010/02/15/terrapower-how-the-travelling-wave-nuclear-reactor-works/

What makes the Terra power move so interesting is the fact that we would be using all that nuclear waste that is building up in warehouses all over the world

Now this I can go for! :thumleft:
I am just tired of hearing all the bull about clean power etc. when in fact it is not. The marketing hype disgusts me. :mwink:

And what is wrong with bunny hugging?

If you can get the same performance without fucking up the planet why the hell not?
Are you the same people still arguing about whether we cause global warming , what the hell does it matter if we cause it or not ?
Surely its in everyones interest to create cleaner energy ,if you have kids , i dont , dont you want leave them some part of this planet not screwed up by a generation of "lets burn and kill something"

MMM mmm Aparently  someone hit a nerve , i will shut up now

I think the vast majority of forum members will agree with you Fishy

But the obvious drawbacks of electric engines are the poor range and complete dependency on dealers. Say goodbye to roadside repairs unless you have a masters in electriacl engeneering.

also, and this is surprisingly important, the sound of an electrical engine lacks the romance and raw appeal of a thundering combustion engine.

I for one would live with the above drawbacks if they gave me a bike with a small nuke plant that'll run for 20years before refuelling and go up in a small musroom cloud if a car takes me out ;D
also, a Flux Capacitor running at a mere 0.21 jigawatts (enough to take me back in time 10minutes or so) would be nice to 'undo' those unfortunate falling-over oopsies ;)

Just imagine the riding spots that open up due to the reduced " noise" factor :mwink:
You could build a track in your backyard , ride it all day , and not worry about your neighbours wife

Reckon it could pull befokte wheelies as electric motors have 100% torque available instantly.

Nothing a Rama lid and a washing peg couldn't sort out. One each side for the V-twin sound.

Sounds good. Even game lodges might allow these. Most places that allow mountainbikes should be ok with an electric bike riding around... :)

Hi friends...there is something about the smell of emisions that just get me going, what is a bike without combustion?...i know it isnt great for the eco, but how much damage are we really making with our bikes (all the billions of them that we all ride all day?)

I suspect four people commuting in one car causes less pollution than four guys each on their own bike

I'd love an electrical scoot - a super lightweight one - to hit up trails that bikes would not normally be allowed on. The Zero trail for example uses wheels much the same size as MTB wheels (in fact I think it does use MTB wheels, along with a MTB front shock and handlebars!) - small tire footprint, no noise, no pollutants - perfect for forest trails, etc... wait, these puppies will become cheaper eventually and the way we see trail riding will change...

That is exactly what I think will happen. Different market altogether and not really direct competition for "regular" bikes. At least not for a few years anyway... Anyway I have seen people spend R50k on a full suspension mountainbike - and it doesn't even have an engine or motor!
