There besides the Tankwa we made camp.
We just rolled out our sleeping bags on the sand and made a lekker big fire. The Tankwa was rippling and the field smelled fresh.
Me and Yster took on the cold water for a refreshing bath while Rooisand just lifted his eyebrow with sceptism.

We made a lekker braai and crawled into our sleeping bags. In the early morning hours a light drizzle woke us....We bummed together and tightened up under a canvas.

The morning was covered in thick clouds and everything arounds us wet and fresh.

We hit the road with no final destination for the day planned. But we wanted to do the Peerbooms and Katbakkies passes on the way to Oppie berg. A few kays from the Tankwa we checked in at the Oudebaaskraaldam and had breakfast. Rooisand was now more relaxed and we were enjoying the ride as much as we could.

On top of Peerbooms they call it the Small Cederberg. Its splendid. Magnificent stuff up there.
The road is narrow and weaves through big rocks and beautifull terrain before you drop again with the steep Katbakkies pass. Just before Katbakkies we rode into a convoy of antic tractors on their way to the Calvinia Vleisfees. The guys had a good time themselfs, passing by with a beer in hand and big smiles

We made Oppie berg with the feeling that we were now in unknown space. And we were now at the feet of the Cederberg. As we did not know where we would sleep for the night and whether we would reach Clanwilliam we got our provisions for the night. A bit overweighted we left to tackle what the Cederberge had to offer. About 50kays from Oppie berg we stopped to have lunch break. The best of the Cederberge was yet to come

On this road to Clanwilliam you go through various passes. Cant remember all of them. The major ones are the Cederberg and Nieuwoudts passes.
Dropping down with the Cederberg was wilder than wild. There were a lot of road works as they are busy paving the thing. Can you believe that!
The road was in a terrible condition and the paved stretch was covered with sand that made it very slippery. On the bottom you get Algeria. It is basically 'n piece of greener than green grass next to a river and between monstrous mountains. Again beautiful.
The beauty of this places really blow the mind. But you have to experience it yourself. And being on a bike where you are part of this awesome nature is something that stays with you forever. Its not just a scene, its an experience.

When were down with the Nieuwoudts pass we rode till we got the Olifants river and turned right there to go with a narrow dirttrack to Clanwilliam. This strectch went alongside the Olifants and Clanwilliam dam. Greatstuff.

Oh that tent string around my boots was for safety reasons....
Rooisand wanted to sleep on his stretcher but the thing did not fit properly in his tent. He later on frew out the stretcher on slept on the grass.
