Aprillia RS 125
« on: October 21, 2009, 02:54:59 pm »
I got this bike a few years ago for my daughter but she never took to it. I was under the impression that the bike was scrapped but it never was
and now discovered the license fees are in arrears since 2001. About R 2300-00 including the penalties. I want to fix and sell/ swap the bike. I have been told that
if I scrap it I will only pay about about halve of the out standing fees. The problem with this is that it will have to be registered as a rebuilt (code 3).
Would this be a major problem when selling the bike?

No bank will finance a code 3. Some insurances are also finicky about insuring a code 3.

Mods please move to General, dont know what I was thinking when making this post here.
@ Beemer Mike. The bike is too old for financing. The selling price will be in the cheepie category.

Then code three it. Code 3 is for rebuilds and stolen and recovered, so basically for deregistration. I had a CBR 400 that SWAMBO rebuilt (I ended up doing most of the work) that was a code 3. After she had finished with it and learnt to ride she sold it with no problems.

You will not get the same amount of money for it, that is all. What exactly is wrong with the bike?
Why is it a code 3 and what is curretnly wrong with it?

The bike is still code 2. The only reason for scrapping it would be to save R1000-00+ in penalties but I don't really want to do that
The power valve do not work as it should but would open if given direct power.
