The Southern Highlands pic?
That is the original Honda NX 650 Dominator.
I had one of the first 1988 models that they brought to Oz.
There is a better pic of it with Olivia in my Women Who Ride thread.
Single cylinder, dual header and mufflers, twin carbs.
Top speed with original front 16 tooth sprocket 160 kph.
I replaced it with a 15 tooth front sprocket for more low down power off road, dropped the speed down to 150 kph, but that was ok.
My average speed on dirt roads is normally 90 to a 100 kph.
I had put black vinly contact on the sides of the petrol tank to stop my knee guards scratching the paint.
(I do that wih all my trail bikes.)
If you look closely at the Olivia pic...the bike, not her...
I also got one of those black plastic acid drum containers, washed it out, sliced off the top and bottom, split it down the side and cut handguards out of them. You mold the handguards into shape by holding a soldering iron against them to heat them up, make them bendable, then hold them in that shape for a minute until they cool down. Works great.
Take note of my fork seal protectors...lots of new bikes have them now yeah?...I made them back in 89...piece of pvc pipe sliced in half, sanded to shape and held on with stainless steel hose clamps...I see lots of new bikes coming out of the factory with similar protectors on these days.
I have always done it to my bikes...another idea I should have patented.
Jaq Hammering around a curve in the trail in the Upper Blue Mountains on the 88 Dom.

My new Honda Dominator is still a 650, but a 94 model. Picked it up for a song with low kms and in very good condiition.
You can expect to get about 70,000 to a 100,000 kms out of an NX engine without any major engine work...if you change the synthetic oil regualrly and keep the air filter clean.
Cheers: Jaq.
