'n BAIE Harde dag!
« on: November 22, 2009, 08:11:38 am »

Saturday was a very hard day……

I attended the funeral of a friend that played a very big part in my life he was a father figure to me, Jamie was everything I want to be for my kids one day.

I will so miss you my friend!

The whole week I have been wondering if I’m going “soft”, I have a tough time with coping with his death. After witnessing at his funeral again the amount of people he touched in his life and how significantly he did so I know why I’m struggling so much.

Jamie had through his personality the gravity that would make any planet proud, you can not help to be drawn to him, he has truly made a impact on everything he was involved with.

Riding along the N1 this morning with a Metro escort, who closed the N1 off completely for a stretch of 20 km just for Jamie I believe Jamie was sitting watching us from heaven saying “Toe steek hom, wanneer gaan jy weer so kans kry!!”
I just struggled to stay upright at 60km/h……. crying and riding just doesn’t go well.

I will so miss you my friend!

Not even a Springbok win can wipe the tears from my face.

I will so miss you my friend!

Jamie could be a “hardegat” when he had the chance, but spending time with the family and friends this week that is one of his characteristics that made us all so fond of him. I wish one day when I’m not here that the only “bad” characteristic the people can say about me was actually another reason they loved me!
Me and Jean(his son) was laughing this week about the time Jamie refused that Jean wear gel in his hair, Jean would be extremely upset, come to breakfast with us and not speak a word, sit there dikbek to prove a point.
I know it doesn’t sound the same reading it, but to us that knew the whole soapie it was extremely funny. They would both be cross at each other, but they still kissed and hug greeting before we each dispersed into our separate directions…. such was the love that they would both be dikbek but still cant help show the love.

I will miss you my friend!

To mention all the things that made him what he was was summed up in something the dominee said in church.
He asked Stienie(Jamie’s wife) during the week to write a couple of nice words, just something short for him to use during the sermon, Stienie’s reply to him was: “How many books do you want?” and THAT sums it up to me!

I will miss you my friend!

There is a saying: “Only in the agony of parting do we look into the depths of love”. Today I wish I could express it one last time before my beloved friend was not there anymore.

I will miss you my friend!

This feeling of sorrow I have I know is a selfish feeling as I know Jamie is in a better place.

There is not a person that truly knew Jamie that didn’t love him!!

Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I'll miss you
Until we meet again!

I would appreciate if one of the mods could uplaod a pic for meof Jamie. I have the pic, just PM me who is online.

The man truly was someone special.

I was not at all prepared for how hard yesterday was going to be. I was a policeman for 6 long years and in that time saw many horrific things. I also lost many friends to the job, at times as many as 1 per month. I thought I was prepared for losing yet another friend. I was wrong.

Jamie was a truly special man that touched many lives. He was a not big offroad fan hence many of the members would not have known him well. However, he was a lover of all things motorcycle and although we as Wilddogs have a prediliction for the offroad stuff, we all love motorcycles first and foremost. It is that intangible quality of two wheels, that as Jamie used to say, moves the soul.

Jamie was a committed Christian and as per our belief, I know he now sits with his Father in heaven. Once again, Jamie is in front of the line, preparing the way for others. As John said, its not goodbye forever.

I hope the life of this great friend will be an inspiration to others.

Strongs John . Don't know if it's just me , but the older I get the more the death of people I know seems to affect me .
Heard last week that a girl I dated a few years back also died in a motorcycle accident . Very sad indeed .
Find ecstacy in life , the mere sense of living is joy enough .

Dankie aan almal!

Ek dink wat ek geskryf het is presies hoe baie ander mense wat vir Jamie geken het voel!

My gebede is nou met die familie want die realiteit skop nou in! Mag die Here julle die krag gee om hier deur te kom!
