Sylvia the BM lady at Natal Motors Empangeni decided to do something for the local DS riders. Being smart she got the local WD's involved. Sunday morning 22 Nov and perfect weather conditions saw some 23 bikes pitched for the ride which is a huge number in our terms. It was encouraging to see all the newcomers who surfaced. At the briefing the riders were told that this is a breakfast ride and not a breakfast run. The "whats the difference looks" on some some faces were left to figure for themselves.
The BM dudes did not seem to mind that they are being led to the sticks by a KLR. Most probaly cos they had no idea where they were going.
After the first 50 odd kays of boring blacktop the fun started when we hit the gravel while doing the steep climb up the Melmoth Mountains. Some of the riders were very surprised to see this stunning place which is right under their noses.
Mark did duty as cameraman and should post his pics soon.
Knight Rider who did her first adventure ride pranged her 2 month old bike. Luckily only very minor injuries but unfortunately her bike don't look so new anymore. She is a bit upset cos Mark did not take a pic of her while she was farming the grounds.

We had a first class breakfast at Oom Wessel se plaas. From there six riders decided to take the daring route down the other side off the pass while we rode down the old but scenic pass. Bad luck hit Knight Rider again cos a thump size woodchip punctured her rear tyre. Murphy the bleddie baastid picked the puncture the day when I decided not to bother wiff spare tubes.

I stayed wiff KR while the rest made their way to Mfuli Game Park. Sylvia and her hubby Kobie saved our day by doing a "BMW ON CALL" on Knight Rider's KLR and rode all the way to Empangeni to fetch a bakkie. We cannot thank them enough for the very biiiiig favour.

The feed back sovar is very positive and it appears that the adventure bug has bitten a few newcomers when they discovered that gravel is where the real funstuff is.

Another big thanks to Sylvia and Kobie for getting all the differents brands and fuglys together for this enjoyable ride.

Expect to see a number of newbies from north of the Tugella to join the WD site soon.

All the dudes who had cameras wiff them got bragging rights so you better use it.
