Hi , this is a piece I did for another website , sorry if any thing is being repeated.
As with any off-road / dual sport bike , they never come straight out factory exactly as we want them. The KTM950 was built to win Dakar's and they did just that. However they had to add lots of extra fuel capacity as the twin is fast and thirsty. The guys at Omega Fibre / Adventure overtime have done an awesome job of using dead space to hand create two auxiliary tanks that take the place of the side shrouds adding a massive eight litres to the twenty two that already exist. The two full carbon fibre tanks have there own OEM taps so can be isolated. The caps are CNC machined from aluminium. The paint work can be custom done to your preference. They are the exact dimensions of the cover that they replace so wont inter fear with any crash bars or extra lights that have been fitted. All the fuel lines and clamps need are supplied together with detailed instructions. Instillation is easy and shouldn't take more that an hour.
The left panel has been removed.
All the plumbing that is required , colour coded for us dumb dirt bike riders.
The only cut is done to the line from the left main tank where the fuel from the two new tank will be feed via gravity into the left main tank.
The right tank fitted.
( JEEZ where did she come from ???)
The finish is something out of the works teams shops.
The filler caps
The capacity of my bike has now been raised from 22 litres to 30 litres. On my recent trip to KZN , I put in 25 litres after doing 430 kms. That would give me a range of approximately 515 kms !!!!!
I was also fortunate enough to get my hands on some fully carbon fibre lower tank protectors.
These should surely help prevent this !!!
These protectors simply bolt on , only the plastic "fins" that exist need to be removed.
