No big twins since 2003.

That even is a bit bullshit on motorcycles side since then, ill limitations and they still earn their reputation via riders deaths doing too long stages - bit idiots are in control of that event since then. And it's the 4x4 cages gettin' the main focus. Not much heroism is left in that event, compared to pre-2003.
KTM no doubt will take all the first 4-5 spots if not 10 spots. KTM factory owns a real estate in Marocco for quite some years now and KTM factory riders know the Lisbon-Dakar track throughoutly, having the most detailed background information and the intensive time training there on the spot, making it unfrair competition for others, especially the privateers.
I was hoping for Yamaha could do some competition since they decided to take "russian style of war" strategy as the KTM does: strenght in numbers, but i think they just don't have much chances looking at the current situation on the Dakar event. Even with the world's very best riders they couldn't compete against KTM factory teams
