In January this year I learnt that my father had stage 4 colorectal cancer & had already spread to the liver & lungs. Although he has always been a fairly strong & active guy, the disease along with the effects of radiation & chemotherapy have taken their toll. I've been trying for a while now to put together a ride with my dad, but frequent hospital stays along with the side effects of chemo have often spoilt plans.
With a small break in the chemo cycle co-inciding with a birthday of a friend of ours down in Paarl, I decided this would be the perfect opportunity for a ride.

I called on my "never say no" riding buddies, Paulsky & Mario to join us on the ride from PE to Paarl over as many passes as we could find. On the day of departure, Mario told us his son (who's age is unknown!) would be joining us on his own bike. So here's a pictorial of 3 guys, a kid & the bravest old bugger I know!
