Visited ole Leon in the casualty section (a.k.a. biker's ward) of the Pretoria Academic Hospital (a.k.a. Steve Biko) 'spetel yesterday.

Obviously in pain, but in good spirits.

He has broken both bones in his lower leg - tibbiwassisname and fibbiwassisname. The one is displaced, but the other izznt.

They gave him a 'jection that makes him feel like he had three beers. I asked the charming Dr. Joubert if I could have one too but she said she needed to break my leg first - I declined.

They will probably operate today and pin a couple of tyre-levers to the bone, but the Ortho was at "theatre" (movies?). In the meantime they put on a "back-slab" (half-a-cast) to make it more comfortable

His major gripe is that he will miss the Geo Ride !

I'll pop in today and see how he's doing.

Bit of a wake-up call, went on a solo plastic bike ride Saterday to explore a route, had small off after riding into a overgrown channel, first thing to hit the floor was head, banged my knee pretty good, could have been serious, will think twice next time before going solo >:(

Welcome to the 27Th December broken bone club.....On the 27th December 2 years ago, Peaches had her bad crash, make sure you have a better orthopod than she had.....
Why the break though? From the pictures it appears you had both high MX boots and knee protection, did the leg twist?
