lekker.... :thumleft: did anyone track the route on a gps? This route MUST be done again but with a sleepover, back the next day via mfolozi.
We are going to ride about 350 kays on this road (yummy) to our sleep over in Newcastle 19 to 22 March.

and yes he did save it  ;D

 :o A true 'oh-shit' moment!

Nice pics btw  :thumleft:
I wanted to cross the bridge on the back wheel but saw Philip comming from the other side on his scoot. My KLR don't swerve too well on his back wheel and things got a bit uneven. The groot skrik still belongs to that friekken train hooter.

I surprised myself and I nearly ended up as a Tannie or Antie.

After we left the "Bridge over the river Umfolozi" we made our way to Ulundi, the heart of Zululands political power. What a depressing place. Very dirty and unwelcoming. So we stayed long enough to top up the DR and Winston lead us to the Ntongeneni Lodge for lunch. Very very nice place over looking some of the valleys. Had a quick lunch and 1 beer  ( only one promise).

FireBucket at the Lodge

Winston introducing FireBucket to the Bar

and a full Firebucket.....for some reason I think it has been dry for quite some time.

After lunch I suggested we do the 2 river crossings. Ok the one is a little stream but the other can be quite full at times. This little route is about 35kms long and takes you up and over, down and around 4 valleys. It consists of some good gravel, a couple of nice steed down hills along small dirt 2 spoor tracks, one very nice rocky, sandy up hill........well it is just a really good fun route to ride.

Sorry on pics of the route but here are some of the water crossings.  ;D

Winston going back to collect his bike after riding Nightriders bike through.

Now bringing his bike through

Nice little foot path down into the valley

The main water crossing was not dep but caution still needs to be maintained as you can't just ride straight across it. There is a rather large rock below the surface that you have to take a left turn around and the bottom is just loose rock. So a steady throttle and consentration is needed.

EddieS did well until the exit point and then found some rock and nearly sent the bike swimming  ;D nice save Bud

or was it a River Dance that he was performing  :mwink:

Winston wetting his feet while taking Night riders bike through.......he got lots of points on the ride  >:D

Hendrick on his new DR

Dale just starting the crossing

Winston heading back to retrieve his bike

Phillip

Winston

Me...thanks for taking the pics Winston  :thumleft:

and of course Firebucket and to stop and have a rest

and here is NightRider enjoying a moment of relaxation.

NightRider you can be very proud of yourselve after Sundays ride. After only 5 months of riding you did extremly well.  :thumleft:. Congrats and well done. Some of the sections you rode through have seen more experienced riders take the easy way out. Keep it up and most of enjoy it.....which I believe you did.

Thanks to everyone for making the days ride a memrable one, I had a total blast and so did my little girl ( my bike  >:D ). She purred all day and had a smile on her face when we got home.

till the next ride.... :ricky:

Thanks for the encouragement Mark! I had a blast.............A BLOODY NERVE WRECKING ONE.............but an absolute blast!!Thanks guys for looking after me and for encouraging me all the way. A special thanks to Winston who had to work twice as hard as everyone else because I didn't feel like laying a land claim for a 4th time that day. It gets a bit expensive on the bike repairs. :-[ I would have liked to have given those water crossings a go, but I am sure the guys would not have appreciated me drowing the Knight in the middle of no-where. That would have just messed the ride up for everyone.

Can't wait for the next one.......................need to work at these (lack of :P) riding skills.
The only thing to fear is fear itself.
