Three Tenérés from far-far away!
« on: January 28, 2010, 09:50:26 pm »
Earlier this afternoon, while on my way back from Mafikeng and while entering Swartruggens, I saw three bikes with panniers and loaded to quite an extent pulling in from a side road ahead. I soon overtook them and saw that it was three guys on Tenérés (double headlights, like an Africa Twin) and clearly from a far-away country. Maybe they have entered SA from Botswana earlier today ???

After a few kilometres I quickly stopped next to the road and got hold of my camera in the boot. I was just back behind the wheel when all three of them passed me again. I caught up with them again and took the following snappies through the windscreen. That was about 35 km from Rustenburg. Note the pipe frames (black, brown and blue) for the panniers. They eventually disappeared from my mirror.

It will be interesting to know of any other Wilddogs that might also spot them on the roads in SA. Please post pictures here and/or try to get their story for us :ricky:

Look at how the one pannier sticks out further because of the exhaust. ??? Captain Slow would never ride a bike like that :D

Thanks for the comments so far :thumleft:

Sorry for the blurry pictures :-[ Unfortunately my Photoshop does not appear to have a "shakes remover" function ;)

All three bikes have a web address on the bottom of the topboxes, but that would probably be in a strange language anyway, given the "SLO" origin of the riders :-\

hEY sa bikers!

I seem to repeat myself all the time when saying JA, it's been a perfect mind rattleing trip. And the word, if I want to put it all in one sentence is not yet existant... I believe our bikes feel as great as they did on the riding down there and I know they have good guys to ride them on.

And, ja, SA was unexpectedly great. As you know, the plan was to go via classical bikers route through Namibia, eventually didn't get visas so we got much, much more of SA instead. So, there are anyway many undriven routes left for us to do in the future...well for now, just looking forward to the ideas of those and sooner than later, I'll be back!

Drive safely

Firstly NOT Russian , secondly not internet related , thirdly very beautiful , well educated "two degrees" thirdly independantly wealthy ! Till I unwisely lost it !
I was actually wondering who would be the first p*&s to open his mouth .
Sorry I seem a bit crude , but you must understand that South Africans as a whole can be quite cruel because we have to explain our pedagree wherever we go and that gets tiresome especially because in more civilised European contries it is quite insulting asking someone you barley know a million questions. mmmm... maybe I am a bit over sensitive , but put yourself in her shoes !
