« on: February 26, 2010, 01:19:00 pm »
Any brave people coming to race the mountains on the 6th of March? I got conned into the race by my ex buddies, may their kit smell bad and their petrol rot.  :'( :'( :'(

Eish them Lesotho Mountains got me broken! I was conned into entering this race by a buddy and knew beforehand that the fitness was not up to standard. On the other hand it was a great experience and I will definitely do this again next year. I will not enter the full roof, this small taste was sufficient to convince me that I will never be able to do 3 days of this kind of riding......yet.
The route was 64km with only one big climb, there were a few other minor ups and downs but nothing too bad. The killer was about 7 km of hell for an unfit fat person going up two tits pass with 2 big step ups close to the top. We did finish the route and although far over the allotted time it was great fun. Next time I will be ready!

Yep, was pinished there. Actually wayting for 2 of the team that took a tumble coming down the mountain. There was also a small stream that we used to fill up with water. Only 15km to go.....sucker for punishment!

How is your mate (or was it you) who looped out that Beta trying to get up the step on Two Tits? Shite, I thought we were in for an emergency evacuation off that pass when that bike landed on top of him!!! Isn't the one chap in that first photo Ettiene?  The same guy we had to "mother" out of racing section 1 to the tar road at the DSP?

Yep, you got us nailed. Etienne was unfit as his bike had been in for repairs for months. He actually purchased a Gas Gas the week before as his WR250f was still in the shop. Runner actually phoned us on the friday arvie with the news that the WR was sorted. Just a day too late. Etienne was not used to the 2t and was totally bommed after the first 10km. Thanks a mill for helping us get him back to DSP. He would never have made it at pace and we could not leave him out there alone. The tumble at 2 tits stepup was spectacular. Harry convinced me that he would take my Beta up the rock without a problem as I was bushed helping other people getting up the climb. He totally misjudged the power and grip of the big Beta and flipped the bike while still on it getting himself stuck under the bike when it came down.

We had plenty fun, we made many stupid mistakes and lost loads of time on the climb helping people or trying to keep out of the faster racing line. Next year we will be back in silver class and this time we will be ready! Thanks again for the help  :thumleft: :thumleft:
