Read the following on the Airhead forum, just had to pass it on! What a trip!! Check out the videos as well! These guys had 41l tanks on their R80 G/S and R80/7 bikes, plus each carried two normal sized (20l ea) jerrycans as well. That's about 80kg in fuel alone!

forums of a trip in 1983 that two blokes did of the first unsupported
Motorcycle trip along the Canning Stock Route in Western Australia.

It runs from Halls Creek to Wiluna, with a total distance of 1781 km
(1113 miles) it is also the longest historic stock route in the world.

There is no fuel, so the brothers riding a R80 G/S and R80/7 organised a
fuel drop at Well 23 (as do mostly all travellers).

The route covers the Great Sandy, Gibson and Little Sandy Desert.
