Wow, thanks for that nice long writeup
I was tossing up between the yz125 and yz250, the 125 is 10 odd kg's lighter. But the thing is, Im not going to win races, I just want to ride the bike thats going to be the most fun, I want something that's going to scare me everytime I ride it.
I also LOVE motocross, and a yz, even with the enduro mods, can still do a pretty good whip on a mx track

Listen to Padawan - he speaks the truth!
www.astonesthrow.co.za

BEER..."I drink it when I`m happy or when I`m sad. I drink it when I`m alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. Trifle with it if I`m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise, I never touch it - unless I`m thirsty"

Scare you?

buy a CR500.

You wont win a thing, but you will make gutters in the road with your sliding.

Seriously. You are tiny. You dont need more than a 125. Go ride a well tuned 125. You will be surprised to see how well they go.

Thats the thing, why do I NEED to take a 125...when I can get a 250?
Also, I spoke to some yz125 owners, and they say you have to have it in the powa band to get the juice going on it.

So I'll take the 250 tx

Get a 200.

KTM
KDX or sim. is the best tool for the shed. Forget about the 300, too much torque for technical terrain(you might aswell keep the 400 then)

Learn to ride it properly instead of going with the guns blazing atitude.

Nope, yz250 for the win.

Simple question...get the cost of a YZ radiator, and compare it to that of a KTM radiator....enough said.

I want something I can ride round the sx track aswell

Ettienne, you could overhaul 4 YZ250's for what you have just spend on your 4T.

Ditto

250 4 smokes are heavy on valves if you ride them hard.
450 i do about 30 hrs on a top end and 100 on main or big end.

the 2 smoke oil  I would recommend is either Motul or Yamalube. they run cleaner and Yamaha likes them.
Even the gearbox oil. they make my clutches last up to 40 hrs.

150 hrs on a topend for a yz 250 is possible, but you will destroy the barrel and will have to replace or get it renicasiled.

I still think a good Yz 250 2 smoke is your best bet.
OH and DON"T do Montague as your first race you will never race again

100 ure op n 450 bottom end?  lewe jy in die limmiter?

where is there a supercross (indoor) track?

KTM has good racing backup. I suppose Helderberg has got too. I dont know hey, KTM 200/250 has far better components. (brembo/WP) Im certain for 30k you can find a befokde 250 Katie.

There is a outdoor SX track at zone 7, aswell as a MX track, Enduro track, and EX track.
Helderberg Yamaha, and Yamaha in general is fantastic.
