Hey Glen :)

They ARE a sweet bike eh? How are you finding the seat though??

If you don't mind me asking what did the crash bars cost?? Hard to get them for the KLE down here in New Zealand.

Enjoy your new scoot :)

Hi Tracy !  :)

Yeah I quite like the KLE, just wish it had a bit more punch, but its good for what I paid !  :thumleft:

The seat does not bother me too much as I have a skinny ass and its pretty hard too lol !

The crash bars I bought new here on the forum for R1815.00 . Probably the best, most practicle piece of bling I could have bought !

Just wish I could get a better screen, cos the stock screen is not worth much. Will shop for one when the bank balance is a little healthier  :deal:

Ride safe !

Glen

Ok the figures are in ! Filled her up on the 18th to go travel some gravel (ride report will follow as soon as I get some time)

14.060 litres @R8.11 =R114.03

197.7km

=14.08km/l

Thats rather heavy but I was belting her along at 170km/h for a long stretch and did not drop below 140km/h all the way from Barkly East to Elliot.

Will fill her up on sunday to get the figures for my gravel stint, then tar to Maclear and tar back to Elliot !

Will keep you all posted !

You forgot to mention - pissed and in the dark at 2am  :mwink:

Rant on :

I went to my local spares place two days ago to order an oil filter for my bike, so they order one. No problem they say. went in yesterday and no filter, call gets made, they forgot . . . . So no problem, everything happens slowly in this town so not much of an issue.

Went back today and they tell me the filter is there ! Cool? NO ! They sent the wrong filter !!! So ok on the phone, they will send the correct filter asap. Cool? NO !!! I asked for a price  . . .  R190.00 ! For an oil filter? You have got to be kidding me !!!!  Couple of weeks back I was at a bike shop in Queenstown and they have the filter I`m needing for R97.00. I did not have any money at the time so could not get one . . .

Is it just me or is there something wrong here?  ???

RANT OFF !

Ok so I`ve let off steam and now I`m still in the same boat . . .

Is there a vendor on the forum that can supply me with an oil fiter for a KLE 500, 2005 model, part number 16097-0004 ? If so how much postage included?

I would be grateful for the help !

Thanking you kindly !

Glen

Hi G,

Sorry just saw this post - am about to sell my KLE and begining to think I should not!!!

Okay I have done about 57 000km on mine  :3some: ...... milage - you should get 20+k / L unloaded and loaded around 14 - 16km /L - I don't often ride much over 120 on tar and 60 on dirt so that may affect it for you.

As soon as the km/L drops below 16km/L it needs a service.
I pushed mine on a superbike chicken run to 150/160 most the trip to Sabi - 300km or so and ended up having to have the head re-done - something to do with an aluminum head that warps at speed - I'm a girl what do I know .....

I had a fuel filter fitted - it's worth the extra R15 per service
The side stand cut out switch kept giving me hassles so it's now disconnected.
The bike likes to lie down a lot when parked in a parking lot - the side stand is terrible - I have to look for a camber/hole in the road ....
Wishing you many happy km's
Like a Bat .... have a unique vision to search SUCCESS in the DARK -

Looks pretty clean in fact!  ::)
Get yourself a NoToil filter maintenance kit. Best foam filter oil imho. Plus it is environmentally friendlier than using mineral oil to oil the filter. :thumleft:

GI make your own screen, get some hi impact perspex, ask Nimo for details, He helped me to make mine we used the original screen as a template for the bottom, also used the original mounting point and brackets, heat perspex with heat gun bend (mould). Be careful not to over heat as it will make bubbles.
I am not defined by what I ride, but by the way I ride
Previous Rides: Honda MBX 50, Gagiva 125 (Delivery), Kawasaki KLE 500
Current Rides: BMW G 650 X Challenge, Honda 125 e-storm, Kawasaki KL 600 (84)stripping for spares

Instead of starting another KLE 500 thread ... I thought I'd tell you about mine:

uh, uh .... the oil in the sump looks like an expensive double thick vanilla milkshake. Waterpump seals were done aboiut 4 months ago.
