I am busy streaming 'Alien: Covenant' at work as we speak.

I am a bit shocked.

I didn't know Ridley Scott made comedies.

I would like to retract my initial post a few years ago where I said the people in 'Prometheus' were the biggest morons.  Who knew the crew of the Covenant can be bigger dickheads.

Good grief!  :lol8:

True. The whole Alien saga has lost my interest LOL. I don't even think Scott knows what he wants to achieve with this franchise. Where in the world (except in an Alien movie) will a crew tasked with the survival and protection of a ship full of colonists, put said colonists willingly in harms way to divert to some distress call? In reality, no astronaut worth his salt will do something so inanely stupid.

Good grief!  :lol8:

Ja I moaned about Covenant here before but the things that still irk me are:

1) Incredibly stupid/naive/emotional/useless crew
2) Zero background and explanation about the advanced civilzation they find on an unknown planet
3) Zero reaction or curiosity by the crew about the advanced civilization they find
4) All the re-runs of previous scenarios (hunting alien is ship corridor, locking people in the infirmary with an alien, using heavy machinery to fight alien, etc etc)

Really do expect more from Ridley Scott.

Also, the whole movie would have been avoided if they just wore space helmets..... And what is Scott's hardon for Michael Fassbender?

Saw Brawl in Block 99 last night.

I seldom see a movie I just wish I never had, but this is one of those!

A fairly lame story, but that was not the problem.

The whole point of the movie seems to have been to show you scene after scene of sickening disgusting violence - the sort of stuff that will keep you awake at night.

Just cheap rubbish IMO.

The cover of the DVD had rave reviews and five star reviews all over it, which is why I took it out.

I REALLY wish I never had. The story was just good enough to keep you watching scene after scene that really wish you had not.

Whoever wrote this, and directed this, has personal issues they need to sort out IMO.

I can heartily recommend that you avoid this one, unless you get a kick out of seeing people slaughtered in really graphic detail.

Personally, hate these torture porn movies and over the top violence. Don't mind a movie that has action etc and blood but I really don't have the need to watch a 'Saw' movie or any of the other such type things. I am a sensitive soul...

I really enjoyed the movie and would recommend it.

Also great to see a completely different side to Vince Vaughan

Different strokes I suppose.

I usually enjoy action movies, but this one was ridiculous.

It was a relatively boring story which had me fast forwarding on the remote, and then was unrealistic in terms of the amount damage done by one person when the fighting started and seemed to just revel in showing you all the bloody gore, compound fractures, shattered skulls etc etc.

Not my cup of tea at all!

Because of scenes like these...

And this one is without the movies dubbed audio because it is hilarious.

Not good enough reason - if I get to a point I feel to skip scenes in a movie I press STOP and never think of it again.

Ja fair point!

But I suppose after paying for the movie, I tend to optimistically hope its just a short dull point and then it will get better.

But your point is valid.

While the kids spent the day at Ouma and my wife took a late afternoon nap I decided to rent 'Justice League' yesterday.

I mean, it couldn't be as bad as everybody said it was right? I didn't like 'Batman vs Superman' but this had to be better than that, right?

I was wrong. So wrong...

I went in with low expectations and was still disappointed. I can't get my head around how it is possible for them to actually stuff this up so badly.

I have now officially given up on DC's and Warner Bro's take on the franchise. This needs a hard reboot.

+1 - compared to the Marvel movies this was shocking.  Looked almost b-grade, despite being one of the most expensive films ever made, and Gal Gadot.
The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

I was never a fan of the overly dark tone and the colour template they used in these movies but this one was even worse.

Besides the shit CGI it had a generic "plot" and stupid villian (...can't even remember what his goal was and I saw this yesterday...) it was boring.

Also, it felt as if a big chunk of the movie was cut out. There was the scene where Aquaman gets home just in time to do sweet fuckall to stop the bad oke take the box thing. There is then a exchange between him  and erm... a chick where I thought I must have fell asleep because I had no idea what they were on about. So went back and nope, there seems to be a chunk missing.

Horrible movie. Just plain shit, don't waste your time or money.
