Cant believe this guy would waste space in a mag to address something like this :imaposer:

Like Oprah justifying things on her show when she is critisized :imaposer:

I buy the mag every 6 months to see the new adds. Thats about it. Enduro world rocks, short and sweet >:D

Uit gevang! You watch Oprah!

That is worse than BikeSA TV.

Actually, I used to watch her to but stopped because that bitch hasn't given me shit.  >:(

I like the beginning where he says that they have done at least one story about the calendar or something.
Suppose that means we won't be getting a Christmas card from him?  :pot:

Okay, since Simon reads the forum let me dispence some academic media knowledge here:

The traditional print medium represents a one-way channel of information. The owner/editor thereof is an gatekeeper of opinion and content.

The internet, on the other hand, is a totally different type of medium where the flow of information is vertical as well as horisontal. Many scholars have described this phenomenon as the "democratisation of opinion".

The internet cannot and should not be censured. It is too mighty to do that. In a print environment one can control certain variables, ie, make deals with advertisers to exclude competitors, sell editorial space, plan your distribution, massage your ABC figures and look at all kinds of ways to ensure the survival of a traditional type of publication. In certain instances, economic realities even means that editorial independence is sacrificed at some publications.

The digital age has changed all that irrevocably. Users are informed, opinionated and migrate to where the most valuable information can be found at the click of a mouse. The digital end-user has, in fact, always existed, even before the digital age came about - because he/she in the past just didn't have the means to vent his/her feelings on an equal level with that of a print publications.

The internet has changed the flow of information. Simon says, followed by Pom (or whoever) says. It cannot be stopped. It has levelled the playing field, creating a situation where the flow of opinion is similar to that of face-to-face communication. The user/reader is now just as powerful as the disseminator of information.

There are, of course, one or two solutions here. One will generally find that high-end publications have really good interactive websites that give readers the opportunity to make use of information that the print version cannot offer. In this way print and digital channels complement the same brand.

Trying to stop freedom of speech on the internet is as viable as trying to block the wind - a waste of time. To quote the Borg in Star Trek: "Resistance is futile".

I might have overlooked one or two pertinent issues here and will add on later when/if I remember.

What a waste of good advertising space.

All we need to do is to trick Simon into visiting the R & P section. Then Kilroy can do his stuff.

A bosberaad is probably in order, it is that time of year! The window of opportunity is probably within the next three weeks or so, because the usual towering inferno of a bonfire will probably burn down most of the NW province if it is after mid May. Tomorrow is out, but next weekend is good, and the next and the next, after that becomes a bit cold and the fire risk is high, but we could do a tea party after that. Let me know.  :thumleft:
