YAMAHA DISTRIBUTORS SOUTH AFRICA  would like to invite ONE member of the Wilddog forum to attend the media launch of the Lord of Yamaha Adventures, the Yamaha XT 1200 Z Super Tenere!!! Here is your opportunity to nominate your Dawg who you feel will give you the most objective, most thorough ride impression of the Super Tenere.

The media launch takes place on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th of May, and will occur in South Eastern Mpumalanga and Swaziland. The route is 700km's long and consists of some of the most awesome tar and gravel routes, with some "technical" sections thrown in for good measure. The successful WD will have the opportunity to ride his Super Tenere for the entire route, and give the bike the shake down that his/her fellow Wilddogs expect from him/her. Over and above the ride opportunity, the rider will have the opportunity to mingle with the the country's leading motor journalists and Yamaha management alike, as well as enjoy all the "after ride" entertainment that is on offer. Unfortunately, he/she will also have to put up with me and Jan Du Toit as well - sorry!!

The criteria for selection is as follows:

Wilddogs must nominate their choice of representation on THIS THREAD. Please note that no amount of PM's to me is going to influence the selection!!!

You may nominate yourself if you so wish.

Each nomination must be accompanied by a short motivation as to why you think your WD of choice is the best candidate to produce an effective ride impression of the Super Tenere

Nomination entries open immediately and close on Wednesday 19 May at 12 noon.

The succesful candidate will be selected in the afternoon of Wednesday the 19 May by the management of Yamaha SA, based on the motivations submitted with the nominations.

The winner will be announced on this thread by 08h30 on Thursday 20 May, at the latest

The successful WD must be able to present him/herself in Fourways, Gauteng by no later than 05h30 on Monday 24 May. All costs thereafter will be borne by Yamaha Distributors South Africa.

He/She must be in possession on a valid motorcycle licence, and have a free criminal record.

He/she must have a valid passport.

He/she must bring all his/her own riding gear, ATTGATT being the order of the day.

And finally, he/she must be prepared to write an as objective as possible ride impression on the forum for the benefit of the forum members as soon as reasonably possible of the conclusion of the media launch. The emphasis of this must be on the bike - a ride and route report, or a launch report in general, is voluntary.

YDSA management's decision on the successful candidate will be final and no correspondence will be entered into post the decision being made and posted on this thread.

Sorry, I know it all sounds onerous, but we need to be clear on the criteria beforehand.

The Wilddog Forum has been recognised by Yamaha as a leading medium for the discerning adventure biker, and it is for this reason that YDSA wishes to extend this invitation.

We look forward to your comment and nominations.

If anybody can...............it will be you !!!  :D

Adventurer
+1

But I think he might already be going via his connection to a wellknown publication.

How about Michnus?
He's been a 1200 owner very long and will be able to give a good comparison w.r.t the GS1200, which is a direct competitor of the Tenere

Yes, Adventurer has already confirmed his participation at the launch - representing that wellkwown publication!! So nominating him defeats the object of this exercise.

The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

Jacko - unless he's going already. being an experienced motorycycle journalist, he will (hopefully) give a fair, objective, thorough review. failing that, bobnob - because he knows everything about bikes and has had a lot to say about the tenere  :deal:  :imaposer:

very cool that Yamaha is doing this  :thumleft:
