I'm in. Perhaps this could be an on going fund for use in situations like this. What about one of the accountant or attorney members opening up a trust account?
It's a friggin' motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The windnoise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you scared every now and then. Suck it up. -- Scary Gary Mc

I did a Lesotho trip with the man back in Sep 2008 (Lesotho met eis). His passion for motorcycles is unmatched. He knows more about the innards of the old classic BMs than the Bavarians themselves. He builds / rebuilds machines masterfully. He deserves all the support he can get from the WDs. Pubish an account on the forum and we're in. Here's your bike - looked the part man.

Altus, you took this picture of George and I (some free advertising for WOA) on our way back from a great weekend. We had t!t fun on our plastics and the beer at this bar hit the spot:

Not sure WTF you doing in Middleburg, SARS after you / CT too fast?

Anyway get well mate, the bikes are calling!

A few dogz have mentioned the possibility of pitching in to get Altus moved to a decent hospital, since he has no medical aid.  As much as I would like to, I can unfortunately not assist financially, although I will not hesitate to organize and arrange the move itself.  I will be speaking to Andrea tomorrow in this regard (she is not happy with him being thereeither) as well as phoning around for quotes to see what the costs will be.

To be quite honest, I personally would not like to be in Livingstone.  Altus arrived there yesterday and was only given a bed and placed in a ward at around 5:30 this evening.  The atmosphere is not exactly condusive to getting better and at times is worse than a railway station at peak hour.

If anyone has experience with something similar or would like to assist (or has any other ideas) please PM me and we can get the ball rolling.

A tale of two threads ... someone please merge these two topics (DustDevil Crash - Hospital move assistance & Dustdevil had a bad off - and is in Livingstone Hospital PE), they relate to the same incident....

Ok, little update regarding my visit to Dustdevil last night.  Here is a photo of him in ward B2 with Andrea - at least he now has a bed after being for hours in a holding area called SOC (Surgeon on Call)  - really a scary place, believe me, I experienced it last night when I was trying to locate Dustdevil.

As already noted both Dustdevil and his wife are doing fine considering the circumstances and environment they find themselves in -  a real positive outlook and optimistic that all will be back to normal ASAP! :thumleft:  Altus is seeing the visit in this particular "medical facility" as just another adventure and something to talk about around the next camp-fire.  Presented him a print-out of this thread (as up to 17h00 yesterday) and both he and his wife asked me to thank everyone that posted messages.  He is optimistic to be transferred, or even discharge, in 4 days time back to Middleburg's hospital.  Lets hope it is sooner!

Regarding the accident -  Dustdevil do not actually really precisely know what happened.  He was out riding solo along a twee-spoor track with quite a high middel mannetjie.  High grass was also growing along sections of the middel mannetjie, meaning that one could not always see what was "hiding" or present in that area of the track.  To Dustdevil's best recollection he was riding at about 50 to 60 kph when he hit some object (big rock or log) that was obscured in the grass on the middel mannetjie.  He did not actually hit it square-on, but thinks it must have been more of a side-swipe that threw the bike's front wheel off-course.  This sudden deflection then caused Dustdevil, as the saying goes, to go 'head-over- heels' over the handle-bars and land heavily.   He was knocked out and only regained consciousness minutes later when he was being assisted by the people that fortunately witness the fall.
Only wished that the situation was more like the following:

Will visit again after work today and get more info.
