Don't close the books on this one. Recently arrived back from Rome. Added a little something for DD.

What respect cage drivers have for bikers over in Italy. Bikes rule over there (mostly scooters actually). Cars and bikes drive like crazed men. You would think that thee would be tons of accidents, but it all seems to work out somehow.

Take care DD, let us know how you're doing  ;)

Hope you are up a going again DD.
Off the subject quickly, I have to 2nd White Rhino. I was in Italy last month, Milan, Genoa, Rome, Ancona, Bologna and scootes & bikes rule there! You must see how the cage drives respect the bikers big time. I have never in my life seen so many scootes & bikers. Very interresting is that the 95% of the scoote riders wear open face helmets, and most of the bikers wear full face helmets. Very few DS bikers, simply because there is just about no dirt to go ride on.

I spoke to him on the phone on Thursday.  I tried to look him up for a quick beer in Middelburg, but we missed each other by 40min. :P

He has already posted a ride report after his off.  Behind the locked gate.  Check it out.   :thumleft:

Hi guys, I need to revive this thread again to help out a fellow dog.

First an update on how things are going;
Although it took a couple of weeks for all the bones to grow back together, a couple of weeks of severe discomfort although not really to painful. At fist I could not sit or stand up supporting my upper body for to long at a time and although I was always seated in a propped up position the pressure on the loose ribs caused most of the discomfort.

Soon I was able to be performing simple tasks with the area around the chest drain entry being the most uncomfortable. The bones seem to have heeled faster than the mussels.
My first ride was attending the EC bash and did a 300km ride to Middelburg afterward on the Suzuki Djebel I bought my wife.
Since then I have been at Jaco's HP2 Jamboree and doing the red routes of the CABC with a couple of smaller rides in between.

I went back to go look at the accident scene trying to figure out exactly what appended.  ???
I guess to know exactly would be an overstatement as this will never be possible, but I  could figure out a few things. First, I was not going faster than 40km/h unless if I was going to overshoot a tight right hander completely.
Second, there were not many objects I could have hit except for a large embedded rock with only about three inches sticking above the road surface.

The accident happened close to a military shooting range and fortunately for me there were people at the range on the fateful day. In fact some of them were watching me as I was riding just before falling.

Them broken bones.

Most of the ribs down the left side next to my spine were broken or fractured. :o

Waiting patiently in pain for attention.  ::)

Not a very happy man > :(

Some more waiting, the line getting longer.

The doctors diagnosis.

Some other inmates I shared the ward with;

Jack Nicholson

Denzal Washington

Brad Pitt

Gene Hackman

Jack Lemmon

Yours truly

Images courtesy of my wife Andrea.

All this is now a thing of the past, all the bones and holes have healed up nicely and there have been no further complications.
It turns out that the Wild Dog enthusiasm have been so fantastic that after all there is still some funds left from your generous contributions. Funds which have been made in good faith for a worthy cause and therefor I'd like to make sure that the generosity is paid forward to somebody else who have experienced the same ordeal.
I would like to use this opportunity again to thank everyone that have contributed in any way whether it was a simple visit at the hospital or even just a post here on this thread. You guys are a humbling crowd.

I would like to formally suggest the transfer of the left over funds to other Wild Dog members to help with any treatment or outstanding medical bills.

Thanks for all the compliments but the funds are monitored and can only be used for medical expenses, since my condition will not require more medical attention the funds is just sitting idle. Better it be used to help someone else than eventually being forgotten.
