Hopefully somebody here can give me some info.
Somebody I know of wants to go ride the Route 66 from Chicago to L.A later this year. Currently on a Suzuki Vstrom he is thinking of selling his bike here and buying another bike in the U.S to do the trip.
He looked into hiring a bike but says it works out to be a lot of cash as they charge per kilo/mile and with insurance it comes to quite a package.
If he goes that route has anybody imported a bike from the U.S.A and is there any hassles? He wants to ship the bike back when he is done.
Or will shipping his bike there, doing the trip and shipping it back make more sense?
Basically any info regarding shipping of bikes to and from the U.S or if anybody has done a trip like this would be appreciated.
