There's a couple of RSA guys riding the event this year, Jade Gutzeit the favourite among the South African riders.
I'd like the see Lionel Seydoux (recently turned South African (capetonian), and very cool guy) win it, he came in 3rd overall at last years event!

Red Bull Romaniacs, June 26 - 30, 2010

The world’s toughest Extreme Enduro Rallye, the Red Bull Romaniacs is on its finishline-straight when it comes to preparations:

Everything is running  according  to  the plan.  Our  new, electronic innovative means of communication will allow our global village even deeper insights into the great offroad-action to come.

The line-up of the world’s best Enduro-riders is as high-carat as Queen Margaret’s jewel-case: Besides the known Red  Bull  Romaniacs  Rockers  of  the  Extreme-Scene,  such  as  Chris  Birch  (NZL),  Darryl  Curtis  (RSA),  Paul  Bolton (GBR) and title-defending Andi Lettenbichler (GER), also the Polish Superstar and Hardenduro-Specialist Tadeusz „Taddy“ Blazusiak, known from his zero-to-hero approach to a triple victory streak at Red Bull Hare Scramble on Erzberg, will challenge himself with his first-ever multi-day (Rallye-) Event.

But it’s not only for the toughest of the tough to make it through Dracula’s Carpathian Garden...

...because  it  is  (and  it  always  has  been)  the  riders  of  the  Hobby-,  and  Expert-Classes  who  made  the  Red  Bull Romaniacs to what it stands for these days: A holiday for masochists, a self-exploring trip for true fighters, a race against one-self, mostly, and one of the last remaining true adventures on two wheels.

The  Red  Bull  Romaniacs  Rallye  2010  will  again  provide  scenic,  beautiful  trails  in  the  heart  of  the  Carpathian Mountains  for  all  participants  of  all  classes,  be  it  the  prestigious  Pro-, the debuting Trial-Rider, the heroic Hobby-, or Tourist-Class … the latter on shortened, slightly easier trails – they’ll all enjoy this special race to
the max.

Even  as  a  guide,  a  mobile  helper  on  two  wheels,  one  can  join  the organization  and  follow  the  Rallye  by  being  part  of  it  in  a  rather  safe way:  Anyone  who  is  eager  to  carry  a  vital  (guiding-)  part  of  producing
the infamous Red Bull Romaniacs DVDs and TV shows is asked to make a call:  Medium  Enduro-riding  skills  will  do,  contact  person  is  Ingo  Schöber,  [email protected]  or  +49  3301  56241.
Adventure guaranteed! More  to  this Guide  Issue  can also be found by  clicking: https://www.redbullromaniacs.com/en/2010-edition/guides/

“Right  now,  we  are  stuck  in  scouting  new  trails  and  tracks,  we’ve  again  managed  to  find  new  routes  and  it’ll definitely become a worthy Red Bull Romaniacs Rallye 2010”, states organizer Martin Freinademetz optimistically,
with his very special grin in his face. Whoever has ever been part of this race, seen the DVDs or some of the videos on www.redbullromaniacs.com knows  that  this  particular  grin  does  not  at  all  mean  anything  positive -  seeing
“Frejn” grinning: This grin most of the time implies workout, sweat and black despair for the riders of all classes.

“It’ll again be a ride-able Red Bull Romaniacs Rallye for all, designed to have fun while riding. It’s our goal to get as many rider as possible to see the checkered flag and the finish-line arch”, says Freinademetz, “at least as long as they sign up in their best-fitting classes”, so the latter with another one of his famous scary grins.

The Prologue will again be let over artificial obstacles made out of wood  and  rocks  in  downtown  Sibiu,  the  EU’s  cultural  capital  from 2007:  On  a  stretch  of  asphalt  of  about  400  meters,  the  fastest  16 riders  will  be  identified  by  qualifying  races  with  mass-starts  like in motocross, before they’ll be racing head-to-head in K.O. final runs.

No mercy to be expected: It’ll  be  all  about  a  lot  of  honor  and  qualifying  for  the  best  starting slots  for  the  first  out  of  total  four  long  days  out  in  the  Romanian wilderness  on  the  days  to  come.  There  will  again  be  thousands of spectators visiting and cheering at this Saturday-afternoon
Prologue-event, which will also be rounded up by live music, live-video-walls and other side events, turning it all into a huge party.
