There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,

<snip>  when, I discovered a F*&%$ puncture on my rear wheel  >:(
3 tubes later and we were on the way again (1 pinched and 2 buggerd after unpacking them)

Hey Jules -err- I had the same problem with pinching tjoobs on the Tenere while trying to fix-em  >:( - pinched three in a row with a front puncture on the N2 before running out of patches.

Is there something strange about the Tenere rim that makes it prone to pinching, or is it possibly the paper-thin tube that comes standard, or is it just my/our incompetance? I have now put a Kenda tuff-tube in the front, and got a slightly thicker spare tjoob for the rear, but I don't want to get stuck like that again.

Sorry only getting back to all you guys now. But I have had to rearrange my life quite a bit since my little altercation with the dreaded rut. To carry on the story where Jules left off...... It was 27 Ks to the Potch Medi clinic and then the job of having to remove my boot!!!!!! The pain by then was getting quite intense and I begged Benny ( the paramedic) to give me some morphine or any sprt of powerful pain killer - no luck - out of stock !!!! In casualty they were great could not get my boot off - tugging and pulling was not pleasant!! Eventually I removed my own boot and went for X rays--- massive dislocation, broken ankle and split shim bone - if it hadnt have been for my Tech 3 boot, I would have lost my foot - thank you Alpine Star !!!!!  Went straight into theatre with Dr Hannes Yonker - what an orthopod !!!!  All micro surgery , screws and other bits to re-attach all the ligaments and tendons - leg was re-aligned ( which at first was not going to be done under anesthetic and I said no way!!!  After 2 hour Op was back at work on Tues morning and a 6 to 8 week recovery period.
Jules thanks to all of you for all your concern and help - Li for your lap, Dale for organising the ambulance, Al for giving me shade and bringing my bike back from Potch - Nikki , Ian, Dave and all you guys and true '''bruthas and sistahs" .
Wild Dogs are all special people and it is a privilege to ride with you. Thanks again.
