I just feel that it would be better if you could move it forward as much as possible - especially the side racks - so there isn't as much weight hanging so far behind the rear axle line.

The craftsmanship looks great, but it looks a little dangerous too.

I can see the remnants of a ball sack hanging from that carrier..

So, now, lets talk about the tail light... looks interesting, I gather it has integrated indicators and is very bright...

I WANT THAT!

If you going to fall -- Your soft luggage will compensate for the fall  

That is only to carry your soft luggage on

For THAT matter panniers will also --take your leg off --if you have spaghetti legs and no Atgatt --

I have the same set up on my 610TE  -Still have Both my legs-- Rather have it break off than have one of those hideous pipes on the side that will hurt your leg --If you fall--

They have extra holes to position them at a alternative position --- This helps to wheelie easily ---

I think you're confusing me with The_Wes...................unlike him, I'm most of the time in a vertical
position on my bike

Sorry, dis die gate in my onderbroek wat maak dat ek oor sensitief is.  

Jokes aside, I did a couple of calculations (newtons 2nd and 3rd laws) and it turns out this carrier is not that hazardous after all.
It will take a freak accident to have a finger under the edge of the side plate and the fact that the rider and bike experiences the same deceleration in combination with the angle of impact renders it save in my books

I don't like sharp edges and pointy stuff any more since I almost lost a friend who punctured his femoral artery with his brake lever (less the round knob, that broke off in a previous fall).

You can say whatever you want about freak accidents but it's no fun poking your thumb into profusely bleeding people whilst waiting for the paramedics

I'd do a little modification of the carrier and bend the edges inward and weld together where the bend parts meet. At least all forward and downward facing edges.
Would add quite a bit of structural strength too.
If you're worried about getting it too strong and damaging the subframe in a fall don't weld or provide a kink point.
