Just done the 3rd KLR650E[late 07,08 and some09;s]with the same factory fault.The 2nd[lower] starter reduction gears shaft has been made to deep on the LH outer cover possiably resulting in the shaft not locating into the inner cover.THIS is going to cause KAK!!!!!Easy to sort out.PLEASE have your KLR checked out ASAP.
