2SD's Alternative Route
« on: July 18, 2010, 03:35:52 pm »
I'm sitting here still high on adrenalin not knowing what exactly to write. What a stunning day. I hope everybody
cashed in on the good weather. Days like these that I think life's really worth all the sorrow and pain.

2StrokeDan was so kind as to lead a little group on his "alternative route" and boy was it stunning. First we had a
go at riding up Pappagaaiberg on the snotty wet mossy clay but I have to admit it's impossible. Not even Etienne
will be able to make it. >:D  Dan offered to give me his bike if I made it but I didn't even get 5m up the 100m slope.

Off we went towards Macassar but via 2SD's special route.

airHEAD with his new HPN.  :love4:

Me in the photo too, 2SD took this shot.

Admiring the HPN.  :3some:

Snotty roads and stupid riders.  :D

Sack and 2SD coming back to see where we got stuck.

Crossing the train tracks and nearly getting hit by the train.  :o

2SD opening the floor with the first waltz.

Sack...

Now we decided to go do "the loop". Half way through a quad was blocking the way.

Sack and airHEAD lining up for the ascend.  :ricky:  To get heavy bikes up here one have to really gas it!

The quad finally got going.

MrBig.

I took some video here so there is a bit of a gap in the peechers.

Further on fatigue was starting to set in and although airHEAD was flying through the 1st half of the loop
things got a bit technical and tricky on the 2nd half.

Taking a well deserved rest.

This will be the 2nd HPN to complete the Macassar Loop.  :ricky:

This is such a stunning playground. I do hope they're not going to mine away all of it...

A bit more play before we go home. Sack putting the 800 through it's paces.

airHEAD.

I'm sorry but I have to put this one in...

After that I thought it my opportunity to ask if I may have a go. I ended up falling as well but boy
does that girl fly! Thanks for letting me.

No. I was the only one to have a go. The others just stood laughing. MrBig came to my rescue after I fell but
also bought some land trying to get down. I would love to see you have a go!  :deal: Maybe with some chains
or spikes on the tire.

I would love to see that alternative route over the hills - 2SD clearly contacts the farmers?
Let's go into the mountains...there's likely to be peace and quiet

Once again really beautiful photography of the area I so love. Thank you, Michiel. It was also good to meet Airhead in person, that HPN BMW goes and looks great. Who is lying there on his back, frozen in time with one foot right up in the air. :imaposer:
The day was huge fun.

Thank Dan for sharing the inside knowledge of your part of the world. You have a really awesome back yard  ;) Thanks to the other guys for making it such a cool day.

I had huge fun and racked up a few more firsts for the HPN, snotty moss covered clay down hills, train track crossings and sand  All in one day  :thumleft:

I was really struggling to hang on towards the end and was forced to have a few little lie downs  :imaposer: You cant hide from the long lens of the paparazzi  :mwink:  I'm not very bike fit, actually I am not really any kind of fit at all  :-[ Trying to haul the HPN around that sandy, wooped loop made me realize I need to work on that  :P

Thanks Michiel for the amazing images (well most of them) maybe all those stops for photo opportunities are worth it after all  :pot:
