Chapmans Peak......... purely sensational
« on: March 01, 2006, 09:38:29 pm »
I cant get over how cool today was guys, thanks for coming round. First up, I met with Accton and his great lady, Heidi, who turned out to be very keen to do a trail!!! We met up at HoutBay, and had just joined them for a coffee, when the electricity went dead. No coffee... so we got back on the bikes and zooted off to our little piece of paradise.

It was just Heidi, Hilda, Mark and myself for quite some time as we settled into bliss (with a little chill in the air I must say), and then some time later, Hein woke up in the morning and dragged Rudi along for a ride. Lets just say that babbelas was the closest description of Rudi's condition....

Myself and Mark popped up the trail to meet them, and show them that they were just 6metres from the entrance...    :P  It turned out that Phil had joined them for a bit which was super, and we all rolled back down the hill. Rudi lost his glove, Mark had a little slip, and we all parked bikes back down at the epicentre.

After a lekker rib, chicken and braaibrootjie on a fire, we left the place at 330pm, just as the rain began to spit. What an absolute jol of a day, and next time - soon - we are going to camp. Sorry that Ernie and Irene didnt come down, it was a magnificent day.

Thanks to all who came, it was just brilliant spending time with you all. I took no pics, I will leave that for the professionals. Truly beautiful..........

That's how I feel for thinking that you guys would'nt go coz the
weather didn't look good.....

I should know you better by now to realize the weather won't stop
you from doing what you had planned to do.

Sorry I missed it guys, as it sounds like you had a great time
together.

Well all, I will basically add our add-on section to Litto’s post, but before that let me say that the group that has started to meet-up on these trips are one lekker bunch of dude’s and dudets.

Heidi and myself had to leave before the ribs and koen was burned on the fire, and we took the long way home (the new mini series of non BMW trips will be staring soon, called Non Beemers can make it the long way Home) Haaaaa, Haaaa, Litto you will be invited to all the trips and meets even though you ride a Katooooom.

So here we go, back up the trail we went, it was my first time with a pillion on the bike, and the first time for my beautiful wife to hold on for dear live on the back. We made it back up and turned right on the pass towards Cape Point.

We took the road past Kommetjie, towards Scarborough stopped of for a smoke at Misty Cliffs and to watch the surfers battle the waves and wind.

Back on the bike we met up with some of Hein’s family members foraging next to the road, we turned the bends towards Cape Point and on to Muizenberg, Simons Town was a buzz of activity, it looked like the rest of Cape town decided to visit this small town. We ducked and dived the traffic and hooked a right on the coastal road towards the N2, did we get sand blasted. Once on the N2 it was a breeze, with the wind behind our backs we settled in for the long stretch home.

What a stunning day, To all there, Cool Runnings and lets do this again sooner than later.

Happy trails all

Mark, Heidi and the Transalp
