Hey thanks Matty

I know two Aussie guys who rode KLE 400's from Japan to the UK, overland thru Mongolia.

The only problem they had was mud/dust destroying wheel bearings.

I have a forum member checking out a KLR tonight.
But the 400 sounds interesting, at least the price is right.
Is there an advert or a website that shows it, and explains Kms and condition of the bike etc?

Cheers: Jaq.

Jaq

I will get more info, try to see the bike close-up and take pictures, note the mileage, etc.

Bye

Hi everyone

I just wanted to say that I found bike, it's in the process of being re-registered in a forum members name.

KLR 650, 2004 model...just within my price range.
Very good condition etc etc.

I want to thank ALL OF YOU guys and gals who have been so helpful in helping me look for and find a bike.

Saying thanks doesn't really seem to cover it that well...but know that I am honored and proud to have you all as friends.

Whenever someone asks me if I have ever experinced the brotherhood of biking...I can yes I have...and point at you Wild Dogs.
Now get outta here before I get all mushy! :D

PS: Scooter will be arriving in SA very shortly, 28 March I think?

He still needs a bike...I have told him to read this thread and perhaps he may be able to take advantage of the information already posted here.

Cheers and many thanks: Jaq.
Hugs: Lin.

Never doubted it for one minute.  How many days?  Three?  It usually only take about 3 days for Wild Dogs to organise anything.   :D  :D  :D   A trip by TR?  Three days.   Lookwell?  Three days?  A bike for Jaq?  Three days.  I like.

Oh Oh

Cheers mate

I'll take this oppotunity to thank Wino also.
He's been great, looked after me above and beyond the call of biking duty.

I'm sure many of you Wild Dog members already know he's a stand up guy.

Cheers: Jaq.

jaq-

glad to hear you found the right bike.  i have a crusty 1993 klr650 sitting in the barn at my parents house back in wyoming, usa.  despite how beaten it is, i know whenever i actually make it back to the us the sucker will crank right over.  great bike.

has anyone on the forum heard of other deals like jaqs?  like he said ill be flying in on the 26th of march landing in cape town with a connection to joberg.  so i should be able to get off in either city.  i have poor orientation there (first time to the continent) and appreciate any support in insuring i can find a bike and be on the road safely.  even just a beer at the airport with a little primer on south africa would be HUGE.  i was just able to unload my south america bike after 5 months down here and am hungry to keep riding until the money runs out.  so much to see.

Although you have been successful in getting a ride (the KLR), from a point of interest some photo's of the above aforementioned bike (unfortunately taken by cellphone. I know, quality sucks!) It is a 1992 model with low milage, in v. good condition, clean, asking price @ R17K.

The KLE looks nice, but the KLR takes more abuse when you drop it.

Don't be too sure of that Jaq, try dropping it on the left hand side and see what your radiator and fan look like afterwards.

The KLR's achile's heel IMHO.
How can I be lost if I've got nowhere to go?

Seems your steering nut is a tad loose - not much.  Wino know how to replace the fork-oil.  I could get to it.  The bike is i n extremely good nic - only 16Ks on the clock - good buy
