It does remind me of Texas hill country.  Very pretty.

Thanks for translating as I have a long way to go learning Afrikaans!!
At least you have an interest to try and learn some of it.  :thumleft:

Thanks Chris, I grew up a fan of a couple of golfers you may of heard of, Ernie Els, Gary Player, Retief Goosen, and now one of my faves is Mr. Louis Oosthuizen.   I've always admired how South African golfers conduct themselves on course.  Some of the hot headed American golfers could learn a few things from your fellow countrymen!  I met Retief briefly at a tournament in Grand Blanc Michigan many years ago, a gentleman it seemed.

I've read articles that claim Louis may not be the best tournament golfer in the world, but when him and the boys go out and play a non tournament round just for shits n giggles, Mr. Oosthuizen always wipes the floor with the other players asses. :imaposer:  It is said he's got every shot in the bag and he can shape the ball like no other golfer.  :eek7:  There's nothing he can't do with a golf ball, according to other PGA golfers.  Plus he's a pro golfer slash farmer so he has my upmost respect. :thumleft:

Mr Dookie, your pic looks like places I've seen in southern Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico.  Very pretty landscape.

Btw, your latest avatar is marvelous as ever!!

Small world BO. Louis comes from a small town about 40 kms from my house. With his first big paycheck he bought a what..........................a John Deere tractor!!!!! Real farmboy :thumleft:

Couple of years ago SA also had a women's champ Lee-Ann Pace that grew up in Mosselbay 100 km from me and her father owns a butchery in my hometown.

Wow, that is close.  Is his farm in SA or USA?  They sell John Deere tractors in SA?

I have not heard of Miss Pace, I don't watch much golf on TV anymore.

SA has produced many talented players over the years, is golf popular in SA?  Lots of golf courses?

His farm is between Albertinia and Gouritzmond in SA.

BO in the 80s NTT Ko-Op in North West province South Africa was the single biggest importer(business) of John Deere tractors in the world. The 30, 40 and 50 series JDs were very popular. The 4440 I think the most popular of all in SA. Not bad for this little country at the southern tip of Africa. :deal: ;)
John Deere tractors are the most expencive, but still is one of the favorites in SA. Some say Case is better but that is debatable :P :lol8:

Jip golf is very popular. Lots of courses and lots of them designed by Gary Player and other well known players.
Close to us is the very popular Fancourt golfcourse and housing development. Prepare to pay mega bucks to live there.

I can recall when I was working for Nestle at Riversdale in the early nineties: Louis's father was one of our milk transport contracters.Every day I could hear them talking over the transmitters about picking Louis up after school and dropping him at the gholf course and picking him up again.Little did I know, that this was a champion in the making.

Great info fellas, thanks.  Little Louis is very highly thought of here, well, at least among my golfing buddies.

Yeah, JD tractors are very pricey, they sure do know how to paint metal.  They seem to retain value better than other brands, not sure if they are any better than other brands.

Wow, Fancourt looks to be a fabulous course(s).  Way out of my league to live there, not sure I'd want to, probably not my kind of people.  I'd probably get reported by my neighbors for walking around the lawn shirtless, occasionally smoking a lefty in one hand, and a beer in the other!!

5 mile point road between Ahmeek and Eagle River, Michigan.

Note the ore freighter in the distance on Lake Superior.

Trust me they are better BO, and the best looking colour scheme on any tractor. :deal:

They only tractor I rate better or on par with JD would be Fendt. Same high price too.
