OK, boys and girls to living things up a bit we decided to run two little competitions:
#1: The real-time ride reporting competition
AIM: To do a trip report, interactive on-the-fly. This will mean to post text and pictures from the site you are visiting (in rural areas off course) and to prove you can interact with the forum from that place. You need to do that on at least a 2-3 day trip - update at least 3 times a day and interact at least twice a day. No landline connections - wireless (3G or GPRS) only and from an affordable device. No fancy 4x4 laptops Shark! - only stuff like phones, PDA's etc. Tell us when you're doing it so we can follow your trip and interact. GPS progress will definately count in your favour. This has never been done in SA (to the best of my knowledge) before and will add a new dimension to ride reporting. We shall do it in the Ride Report section. Contact funacide for technical assistance from the forum side.
PRIZE: A Dirtbag tool bags sponsor by your truly and the eternal honour of being the first 'real-time d/s reporter' in this country.
#2 'A wish you were here' competition
AIM: To take the most awesome photo of your bike in the most awesome place. Limited to one pic per member per trip this competition will run till end of the year when we shall vote for a winner. This is to make the coach potatoes jealous of where you are riding and to challenge them to better the experience. Factors to consider are (a) quality of the pic - lets limit this to 700x500 pixels max, (b) quality of the location ito remoteness/uniqueness and pure beauty and (c) the d/s nature (bike and trail/road) of the pic - it must say "come ride me". We shall run this in the 'Interesting Places' section.
PRIZE: To be announce and the title of the 'King of the Trails' for 2006
