Thabazimbi, Alma, Vaalwater and Warmbad.
« on: August 19, 2010, 01:33:36 pm »
My mini Ride Report.........   ;D

So 4 V-Stroms (2 x 650's and 2 x 1000's) left Lichtenburg for the unknown area of Thabazimbi, Alma, Vaalwater and Warmbad from 6-9 August. Me, HennieS, Chris.eb and Deon. If anyone told me there would be any sand I might have, ummm, not go.    We did 1070km's and about half of that were on dirt and sand........

But as we found out, if you want sand - go to Alma and Vaalwater!  :patch:

Pit(s)   stop Rustenburg.

Rankins Pass

We stayed in chalets on a game farm near Alma. 4 of the best DS bikes.   ;D

This photo was taken after the worst peace of sand road we encountered the whole weekend. We were to busy (and farking tired) to take photos but I wish we have! In places you just drown in the sand!

Chris.eb trying another way of coping with the sand.......   :pot:

A rest on our way to Warmbad after I almost had a headon with a guy on a 800GS. Dude overtook a bakkie on a bend on the gravel!  :o

Oppad terug....

Those are beautiful areas to ride.  Did a small (600km in one day) trip in that area not to long ago.  The sand does keep one awake but we did not hit any spots that was to bad.  Doing 100km/h does help.   ;D

I had a big fear of sand so any sand was an issue for me!

We only had one road, between the police station at Rankins Pass to Vaalwater that was very fine and deep sand!   :ricky:  Then there were the ( sometimes sudden ) patches of deep sand.  :o

Dink, stop, neem fotos.  Groete

Nice.
Ja, those roads in the north can turn nasty sandy at this time of the year!
