Taxi/Scooter hit 'n run - WTF!
« on: August 22, 2010, 10:06:12 am »
really annoyed, just heard on 567 Cape Talk that 19 year old died in hit and run accident in Elsies River, Cape Town.

How cold must you be to knock someone off their scooter into a lamp post, and then drive off, having witnessed a highish speed acciden

B@stard!

I'm really pissed off! >:(

I'm not surprised at this. Watching the way Taxis drive outgoing on the N2 in the mornings is really scary. Every day one of them does something even more stupid than what I saw the day before.
No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.

Same thing as the taxi that drove over (and killed) the school girl in Gauteng a couple of months ago.

>:(

So sad and totally unnecessary.

It was shortly after the incident with the taxi in Garsfontein Pretoria East that my daughter came to me and said she had too many close calls and gave her scooters keys back. It was sad for she was enjoying it a lot, but I have also had the honour to meet and worked with Dave de Toit on Gough Island during the take over period last year. Natalie the swimming SA champion with the one leg’s dad…she lost her leg in a scoot accident. You can argue a lot about children and bikes and scooters and ‘your time is your time’…but somehow the time thing stopped making sense to me years ago as I as paramedic responded to these horrific scenes. Our country is just not scooter and even bicycle friendly like for instance the Netherlands and Beijing ! Sad…when I done my practical in the mortuary there next to the old HF a lot of the cadavers were shockingly bikers! (I mean to say a LOT)

I am not trying to convince you to sell you children’s bikes, my son is also riding. But be careful for SA is not scooter and biker friendly in general and you only have one go at live…is it really worth letting your child loose on the street with a bike while some of us know they are not matured enough?

However, which they catch this bastard!  :angry4:

There was a hit and run in PE this weekend, a biker was stopped at a robot and was hit from behind. He also passed away >:(

it seems they AVE caught him, that's why I think a small protest at his bail hearing may be in order.......................

The problem is that the 'gangstars' that run these taxis go right up into government.

You will get nowhere with these taxis until the power that be decide to jail them. Then they block the roads and play the race card and we are back a square one, because the ANC do not want to loose votes.
