I visited a buddy of mine a while ago in Dar-es-Salaam  :mwink:

It was humid unlike anything I've ever known.
On second thought, some parts of the female body might come close.. like the arm pits OK!

I rented an XR400 with ohlins rear shock from a fellow wilddog in Tanzania (steveindar).
Arrived at Steve's house the day before in order to service the XR and meet the others.

The vibe was epic. Klaus, from Denmark had some hard rock tunes blasting from the garage while he and Benoit serviced their 525's.
Steve would surface every now and then with a tray of 1L Kilimanjaro's (beer) resembling a scantily clad overweight waitress accentuated by the reflection of the Tanzanian sun from his manly belly  ;D

Had ourselves a great time amongst the bikes and beer.
Pics are FB linked so I hope they are visible to you lot!

The ride:
We made our way through town, encouraged by the local traffic officers to pull the customary wheelies. -got to love Africa  ;)
Took the ferry to hmmm not too sure exactly:

There was this cab on the same ferry, blasting these super cool rasta tunes to the point where distortion sounded like it could be part of the mix  ;D

I could sense that this is going to be good.

Nature was starting to take back that which was tarred at some stage..

It's at this point that me and my buddy on the KTM450 swapped bikes

..and where the KLX drowned  :-\

You can actually still see some water draining from the exhaust.. needless to say, this bike ran poorly for the remainder of the day.

It's at this point that I was happy to get the XR back.. that seat is such a relief  :thumleft:

As you all know, the 525's are equipped with the e-button. I was trying to kickstart the XR while Benoit on his 525 was roosting the kak out of me.. you can see the perpendicular line of sand in this pic.. I had sand in just about every orifice   :imaposer:

This is where the XR operated-- the sand  :thumleft:

This was a great ride in a great dirtbiking country  :thumleft:

The XR400 performed so well, I bought one when I got back to SA!
In fact, me an Klaus on the 520 dropped all others in the fast sandy switchbacks :thumleft: The XR was awesome!
