« on: October 05, 2010, 10:10:10 am »
Hi guys

I saw some wild dog paws on the recent quads 4 quads ride, would like to hear what their impressions of the ride were?

Howzit,

It was my first Q4Q. I did the up run on my Dakar and loved every second of it. Saw some awesome areas and took lots of photos. Another WildDog forum member(F 800GS) and myself took it easy and just enjoyed it.

In some places we battled a bit with the route markers, but I understand that the marking has been better in previous years.
Would I do it again? Well, I am busy selling my Dakar, so if I have a bike to use again, then I might.

Cheers
Rory

I also did the up-run.  This was my 4th Q4Q and the best so far.  We were only about 100 bikes :thumleft:  I believe the down-run was 600 bikes (to many in my opinion).  Ek het die 2 ouens op die 650 en 800 gesien op die ride, ek was op my XR200R
Who needs a road anyway?

This was  my first Q4Q , on a KTM 250 2T nogal,I did the uprun . Quite a change from cruising on the Pig!!
Very well organised , using cycling shorts under my Richa Airvents saved my ass.
My bike computer shows +- 20 hours riding at +-  40km/hr ave = 800kms.
My KTM is up for sale as I don't have enough time to enjoy both bikes.
You're never lost as long as you still have gas !

A few of us did the down run

Me - 550 Husaberg
Herman - 950 Adv S
Lenox 1100 Adv with road tyres - I thought he was mad but he did the whole trip through mud, rocks etc. He is one of those guys that doesnt complain about anything let alone tyres :thumleft:
Another 950, 1200 GS and 7 other plastic bikes

All in all it was an awsome ride but a lot drier and more dust than last year. It was about 600 quads and bikes and was well organised. It was well over 1000 km's and really only about 10km's tar. The rest was all dirt - some nice river crossings, railway lines, mountains, forests, farms, tunnels etc.

This year these was quite a number of DS bikes and in fact it is the type of bike for this kind of trip. I did it last year on the 950 and enjoyed it more than on the 550. We spoke to Glen - Family Adventures and he had quite a number of requests to do this trip but for the DS bikes.

There were two mountain sections where the bigger bikes took the green route, but with some patience they would probably have been able to get over

Herman had 4 punctures so he can assist with some road side repairs :pot:

I dont have pictures - there wasn't space in the tool bag and i sommer buy the DVD afterwords

I think the up run may be nicer - less bikes and dust

Nie vir sensitiewe kykers nie.  :pot:

Die footage is swak, die aanbieder glad nie snaaks nie en die BMW riders almal oorgewig - maar moenie worry nie, Kyknet saai dit nie uit nie.  :imaposer:
