The recent tragic bike accident in the South made me think.

In 2005 I lost a good friend due to the actions of a blind old bat in a cressida driving on the wrong side of the road. My friend had right of way.
Yet the blind bat got off scott free as the judge, as I understood it then, accepted his excuse for killing my friend when he said. "Sorry judge I did not see him"

Now this made me think. If I randomly fire a gun and the bullet kills somebody who I did not see then the courts still charge you with culpable homicide. Yet I am not aware of one car driver that "killed" a motorbike rider that got a sentence or whatever

Anybody here aware of the opposite? A sentence more than the slap on the wrists?
