To be a gravel tourer. Was always gonna be one. When Honda said they were going to build a 4 cylinder gravel tourer did you expect an MX bike?

Yup, doesn't look too bad. Crashbars, spots, high screen, belly plate, spokes.

Will have to see how it stacks up against the GS1200 & STen. Specs and price. It's obviously going to be fast with that engine. Also, with the dual clutch box I guess you'll get it in the auto version? That will be very interesting in a DS application.

I don't see any reason why the SuperTen and the GS1200 should be rated higher than this Honda
It's the same class of bike with similar dimensions, similar applications, similar looks and probably similar specs

you just need to get rid of those attaché cases, slap on some knobblies, give it a bitchin' paint job and (if you can) crank up the suspension a little.

one thing you have to give to the boxer bmw bikes are they are doddle to work on - everything is nice and in the open

the new honda looks like you need to strip the bike for 2 hours+ before you can touch it

i do know the dakar is a bitch to work on - need to access everything from the top so you need to strip everything before you can do anything

the v4 is not going to be joke to do stuff on that you can be sure

No 1200 these days are meant to be "worked on" by the riders.

Luckily, this being a Honda, you wont need to!

I believe the 1200 is at least going to be the Quality Benchmark in this 'Hyper DS' class, and with that V4, it should also set new standards for performance, relaxed high speed cruising and obviously that marvellous unique sound!

depends

if its some computer related problem then no - well you can get the gs911 thingy that will tell you more or less what is wrong and you can swop out the parts

but lets face it normal "working" on a bike is

chain oil and filter and plugs and set the valve clearances replacing the odd bearing chains and sprockets water pump flushing radiator etc etc

that is standard across all bikes bmw, ktm even hondas

the other stuff normally does not go wrong - lets face it maybe 1 in 5000+ bikes will give a weird computer problem

and when it does you take it to the dealer other than that its all standard xt500 type stuff

On the 650 TA, you have to take of the entire fairing - a REAL PITA - and remove the tank to clean the airfilter!!!

They going to have the same problem with as the ST with the weak rear Topbox rack tho. Looks a bit thin and weak but other than that Karoo dirt roads and the like hereeeeeeeeeeeeee we come
